15 DIY projects with Makin's Clay®

I knew for Makin's Clay® for a long time, but I had not a chance to test it out until I become a member of the first-ever Makin's Clay® Design Team during 2015/2016, because Makin's® clay and tools are not available in my country. Now that I had a chance to try it I'm absolutely and completely hooked on this no-bake polymer clay. I had so much fun experimenting with this a bit familiar, yet completely new material for me.
Makin's Clay® it does not need to be softened at the beginning of the work (which is great, because I do not like that part of working with polymer clay), it is very flexible and can be bent, molded and shaped easily. It's non-toxic, it’s suitable for all ages, it requires no baking and can be applied to almost any surface, even on very large objects which do not fit in the oven and that normally we would not be able to cover with polymer clay. By mixing two or more colors together it’s easy to achieve unique colors, and it can be stamped, painted, carved, sanded, textured, sculpted... I really love to make various things with Makin's Clay®, ‘cause it has a tremendously broad range of applications.
As a Design Team member (including me, in the team was 12 experienced and renowned artists) I created 7 tutorials and 8 additional projects with Makin's® clay and tools, about which I write in various posts on my old blog. Since those posts are not available anymore, I decided to re-edit and combine them in one post for my new blog. So, here are projects I created when I was a member of Makin's Clay® Design Team. The direct link to each of tutorial (step-by-step instructions) which are originally hosted on Makin's® blog you'll find by clicking on subtitle above the photo and project description, and at the end of the post, you will see photos of additional projects I created.

My first project made with this no-bake polymer clay was a candleholder. I made it for my Mom as a gift for Mother's Day. It is inspired by Serbian folk costumes, more specifically with the costume from the part of Serbia where she’s born - Šumadija. Sometimes the beauty of things is in the simplicity, so I incorporate colors and patterns from folk costume in design and gave it a bit of modern and minimalist look. My Mom absolutely loves it, and I'm sure you will to.

I know! Rainbows traditionally contain a completely different color scheme than the earthy palette I used for this necklace. But, I used colors that I prefer more and which are better harmonized with my wardrobe. Chalk it up to artistic freedom. Of course, you can use your favorite colors to make it.

I really love to wear shawls and all sort of scarfs. I always have one of them in my bag, even during hot summer days. Also, I love to ornament and attach shawl with a pin, of course, the ones I make.

This necklace is easy to make and does not require a lot of time, but it's quite effective and elegant with that subtle sheen. This necklace is primarily intended for festive and formal occasions, but it is an excellent addition for daily variants as well, especially in combination with black, white or red clothes. As most formal jewelry are manufactured in sets I made matching earrings which you can see at additional projects down below. I made two pairs - longer one which is great for every day, and the shorter one as a subtle addition to necklace during formal events.

I love my cat Zvrle, who loves to play with a piece of rope and to eat certain types of food that are packed in cans. As an ecologically conscious being, I like to recycle. I love the sea, which is not surprising since my dad is retired captain of cargo ships and I crossed all the oceans with him. Also, I love to play with Makin’s Clay®. So this holder is a combination of several of my loves. It is great for its multifunctionality (it can be used as vase or planter) and will bring a touch of summer in every room and remind you on holiday even during winter days.

There’s nothing like baking and decorating cookies to inspire creativity. In the kitchen, and also in our studios. I love to bake, and since holidays are not festive enough without cookies, I had to make some in my studio with Makin’s Clay®. I make sweet ornaments for my Christmas tree. My Makin’s® cookies are shiny and partially transparent, which makes them a great decoration for the window as well. What makes these cookies even better than baked ones is that you do not need the oven for making and they will last for years and years!

Additional Projects

I wrote more about Heart bookmark (which has a second task as a pendant) and Not so scary Helloween pumpkin in separate posts on this new blog of mine, but I will post their photos here as well because they are both made with Makin’s Clay®.
